The Admission Committee, composed of faculty and administrators, evaluates each prospective student in the following areas: academic achievement, readiness, and aptitude; social-emotional development, interessts, talents, and extracrurricular achievements; family cooperation with the school to meet the student's needs and the ability of the school to meet the needs of the child.
1. Schedule a campus tour.
We invite you to schedule a tour of our Lower School campus. Tours last approximately one hour. Please check in with our security office located in the gymnasium lobby to receive an official visitor badge. Tours are scheduled as follows.
Grades PreK-2
- Tuesdays 9:00 a.m.

2. Submit application and $90 application fee.
Applications are available to download at the link below, or by mail when requested. Candidates initiate the application process by submitting the completed application and the $90 application fee. For those students who are qualified for admission, enrollment is dependent upon available space. A waiting pool is formed for candidates who have qualified for admission but no spots are available at their grade level.

3. Register for admission testing.
Pre-Kindergarten: Pre-Kindergarten candidates must be four years old by September 1 of the year they will begin pre-Kindergarten. Pre-Kindergarten applicants are evaluated on an individual basis. This evaluation takes approximately 45 minutes. To schedule a testing appointment for your child, click on the link below.
Kindergarten: Kindergarten candidates must be five years old by September 1 of the year they will begin Kindergarten and must attend an academic pre-Kindergarten. Candidates for Kindergarten will participate in one testing session. The chidren are assesed academically, and they participate in a playgroup situation that simulates a classroom experience. First Grade: First grade candidates must be six years old by September 1 of the year they will begin first grade. Candidates for first grade will participate in one testing session. Second-Fourth Grades: Candidates for second through fourth grades must take a national standardized achievement test administered by the Admission department. To schedule a testing appointment for your child, click on the link below.

Fifth Grade: Candidates for fifth grade must take the Independent School Entrance Examination (ISEE). We encourage students to register early because test sites do fill up, sometimes before the registration deadline. When registering, please request scores be sent to Lake Highland Preparatory School, code 101294. To register for the ISEE, click on the link below.
*Regular Decision for 5th Grade:
- Candidates must take the ISEE no later than January 9, 2010.
- We must receive all required documentation by January 8, 2010.
- Regular Decision letters will be mailed by February 4, 2010.
*Late Decision for 5th Grade:
- Candidates must take the ISEE no later than March 6, 2010.
- We must receive all required documentation by February 26, 2010.
- Late Decision letters will be mailed by March 18, 2010.
Sixth Grade: Candidates for sixth grade must take the Independent School Examination (ISEE). 4. Submit teacher recommendation form(s).
All students applying to Lake Highland should give the appropriate recommendation forms to curent teacher(s) and administrators for completion along with a stamped envelope addressed to Lake Highland Preparatory School, Attention: Admission. See the table at the bottom of this page to download the required teacher recommendation form(s).
5. Submit academic records and requested documents.
Academic Records: For all students applying to Lake Highland, the following academic records are required:
- Copy of First Semester Report Card
- Copy of Recent Standardized Test Results
- Copy of Official Transcript
Requested Documents: Please provide a copy of the following documents:
- Small Photo
- Copy of Birth Certificate
- Copy of Social Security Card
- Proof of Immunizations and Current Physical by a Florida Physician
- Applicant Questionnaire (Grade 6)
