The Admission Committee, composed of faculty and administrators, evaluates each prospective student in the following areas:  academic achievement, readiness, and aptitude; social-emotional development, interests, talents, and extracurricular achievements; family cooperation with the school to meet the student's needs and the ability of the school to meet the needs of the child.


 

 
1.  Schedule a campus tour. 

We invite you to schedule a tour of our Lower School campus.  Please check in at our Security Office located in the gymnasium lobby to receive your official visitor badge.  Campus tours last approximately one hour and are scheduled as follows.

Grades PreK-2

  • Tuesdays 9:00 a.m.

Grades 3-5

  • Every other Wednesday 9:00 a.m.

Grade 6

2.  Submit application and $90 application fee.  

Candidates initiate the application process by submitting the completed application and the $90 application fee electronically.  For those students who are qualified for admission, enrollment is dependent upon available space.  A waiting pool is formed for candidates who have qualified for admission but no spots are available at their grade level.

3.  Register for admission testing. 

Pre-Kindergarten (PreK):  Pre-Kindergarten candidates must be four years old by September 1 of the year they will begin pre-Kindergarten.  Pre-Kindergarten applicants are evaluated on an individual basis.  This evaluation takes approximately 45 minutes.  To schedule a testing appointment for your child, click on the link below.

Kindergarten (K):  Kindergarten candidates must be five years old by September 1 of the year they will begin Kindergarten and must attend an academic pre-Kindergarten.  Candidates for Kindergarten will participate in one testing session.  The children are assessed academically, and they participate in a play group situation that simulates a classroom experience.  To schedule a testing appointment for your child, click on the link below.

First Grade:  First grade candidates must be six years old by September 1 of the year they will begin first grade.  Candidates for first grade will participate in one testing session.  The children are assessed academically, and they participate in a play group situation that simulates a classroom experience.  To schedule a testing appointment for your child, click on the link below.

Second-Fourth Grades:  Candidates for second through fourth grades must take a national standardized achievement test administered by the Admission department.  To schedule a testing appointment for your child, click on the link below.

*Regular Decision for Pre-Kindergarten - 4th Grade: 

  • Candidates are required to register for testing by the appropriate deadline. 
    Registration deadline for PreK and K candidates testing on January 15, 2011 is January 12, 2011. 
    Registration deadline for PreK, K, and 1st-4th grade candidates testing on January 22, 2011 is January 19, 2011.
  • All required documentation must be received by January 7, 2011.
  • Regular Decision letters will be mailed by February 3, 2011.

*Rolling Decision for Pre-Kindergarten - 4th Grade: 

  • Admission testing may be offered March-July based on enrollment availability.  Please contact an Admission Specialist at (407) 206-1900 ext. 1 to discuss specific grade level availability. 
  • All required documentation me be received one week prior to testing. 
  • Rolling Decision letters will be mailed monthly.


Fifth Grade:  Candidates for fifth grade are required to take the Independent School Entrance Examination (ISEE).  We encourage students to register early because test sites do fill up, sometimes before the registration deadline.  When registering, please request scores be sent to Lake Highland Preparatory School, code 101294.  To register for the ISEE, click on the link below.

*Regular Decision for 5th Grade: 

  • Candidates are required to take the ISEE no later than January 8, 2011.
  • All required documentation must be received by January 7, 2011. 
  • Regular Decision letters will be mailed by February 3, 2011.

*Rolling Decision for 5th Grade: 

  • Candidates may take the ISEE at any test site March - July. 
  • All required documentation must be received one week prior to testing. 
  • Rolling Decision letters will be mailed monthly.

  • Regular Decision letters will be mailed by February 3, 2011.

4.  Submit teacher recommendation form(s).

All students applying to Lake Highland should give the appropriate recommendation forms to current teacher(s) and administrators for completion along with a stamped envelope addressed to:

5.  Submit academic records and requested documents.

Academic Records:  For all students applying to Lake Highland, the following academic records are required:

  • Copy of recent standardized test results
  • Copy of most recent report card
  • Copy of year-end grades from previous school year

Requested Documents:  Please provide a copy of the following documents:

  • Small Photo
  • Copy of Birth Certificate
  • Copy of Social Security Card
  • Proof of Immunizations and Current Physical by a Florida Physician
  • Applicant Questionnaire (Grade 6)
